Using hand held tools is the main method for gathering the various Resources found in the game, and are essential since not only can some resources not be gathered by hand such as ores they also, paired with Resource Gathering Skills, can signifcantly increase the amount of resources harvested. The basic tiers of hand held tools are stone, bone, bronze and iron though not all types of tool will have a version of each tier.
Generally speaking the higher the tier of the tool the greater the potential of gathering more of the resource per gathering attempt.
